I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I provide psychotherapy and counselling to help people across the lifespan who are dealing with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, anger, and low self-esteem. I also do litigation consulting and offer workshops to attorneys and schools.
My goal is to empower people with the knowledge, skills, and support to move forward in their lives. My philosophy in treatment is “what works.” In so doing, I adapt evidence-based care to my clients’ unique needs and circumstances.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Psychology at Concordia University, and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University. I have worked in hospital, clinic and community centre settings in Nova Scotia and Ontario, notably the IWK Health Centre, Ongwanada, and the Kingston General Hospital. I have also worked in private clinics in Quebec, including the McGill-affiliated Emotional Health CBT Clinic and the West Island Therapy Centre. I have presented guest lectures at McGill University, Dawson College and the Bronfman Jewish Education Centre, and have been interviewed on CTV News Montreal. I am a recurring guest expert at The Natasha Hall Show, The Aaron Rand Show, and On Call with Dr. Sydney Miller on CJAD 800 AM. I presently work in private practice in Montreal. I am a member in good standing with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.
I see children, adolescents, and adults, and I help them move forward toward their goals. Specifically, I work collaboratively with my clients to develop strategies to deal with their anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, anger, and other concerns. I am committed to providing the best possible, evidence-based, personalized care. I use cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and other evidence-supported techniques, such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness. I also help young people with developmental disabilities (including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disability) and their parents to cope with mental health concerns, as well as disruptive behaviour problems.
I provide customized workshops to lawyers to help them meet the unique needs of clients in litigation, and to cope with the stressors of the profession. Examples of workshops I have presented include general strategies for managing clients, strategies for dealing with distressed clients, and self-care tools for lawyers. I also present workshops on various psychiatric concerns and conditions, such as autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, parental alienation, burnout, and depression.
I work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and resource staff to develop workshops that fit their unique needs. Examples of workshops I can present include:
As a litigation consultant, I help prepare lawyers and clients for court appearances, and provide information on effective communication and on coping techniques for clients regarding their stress, mood, and anxiety related to litigation.
I meet with clients in my Montreal office. I am also available for sessions via telephone and for online therapy via Skype.
