Clinical Psychologist

About Samantha

I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I provide psychotherapy for individuals of all ages experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, and parenting difficulties. I also offer litigation consulting and lead workshops for lawyers and schools.

My goal is to empower people with the knowledge, skills, and support to move forward in their lives. I focus on “what works,” adapting evidence-based care to each person’s unique needs and circumstances.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Psychology at Concordia University, and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University. I have worked in hospital, clinic and community centre settings in Nova Scotia and Ontario. I have also worked in private clinics in Quebec, including the McGill-affiliated Emotional Health CBT Clinic. I have presented guest lectures at McGill University, Dawson College and the Bronfman Jewish Education Centre, and have been interviewed on CTV News Montreal. I am a recurring guest expert on CJAD 800 AM radio programs.

I currently work in private practice in Montreal and am a member in good standing with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.

About Daniel

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of how to move forward. I'm here to help. I am a master's-level counselling psychology practicum student practicing under the clinical supervision of Dr. Samantha Goldwater-Adler, Psychologist.

I hold an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa and am currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Before pursuing counselling, I worked in human resources, community-based nonprofit settings, and youth mentorship. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges people face balancing work, relationships, personal growth, and life's unexpected transitions.

As a practicum student, I receive ongoing clinical supervision from Dr. Goldwater-Adler. This means that while you work directly with me, my cases are regularly reviewed and guided by an experienced psychologist, so you benefit from that expertise throughout your care.

My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable speaking openly, exploring what's been difficult, and working toward meaningful change.

My approach is collaborative and goal-oriented. Together, we build on your strengths, develop practical coping strategies, and work toward goals that align with your values and the life you want to create.

I draw on evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and person-centred therapy, tailoring each to your unique needs and goals.

I work with adults and adolescents, and I'm especially drawn to supporting people who feel like they've been misunderstood or haven't quite found the right fit in counselling before. I see clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, low self-esteem, and unwanted patterns or habits. I also have a particular interest in supporting individuals navigating attention, executive functioning, or learning-related challenges, including ADHD. This is an area where I find that the right counselling relationship can make a meaningful difference.

Psychological Services

Children, Adolescents, and Adults

I am dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and adults move forward through difficult periods. Together, we will develop personalized strategies to overcome the anxiety, depression, stress, parenting difficulties or other painful thoughts and feelings preventing you from reaching your goals and functioning at your best.

In a supportive and collaborative environment, my goal is to provide you with the best possible care, using techniques supported by research as being effective. I use cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based interventions.

I specialize in treating depression and anxiety, including healthy anxiety, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, phobias, postpartum anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I also help young people with mental health concerns. I provide care and support to their parents, including strategies for managing mood, anxiety, and challenging behaviours.

Goldwater-Adler Psychology also offers counselling services with Daniel Golfman. See the Counselling tab for details.
